About the role
The Accounting Manager position is perfect for an experienced professional looking to further their career as a professional in the FinTech space. We operate with a small, close-knit team that is incredibly passionate about the problem we are solving. With a mix of team members with successful past startup exits, significant experience within the finance industry, and prestigious machine learning experience. What you'll do
- Lead and manage a team of bookkeeping professionals who review and provide weekly bookkeeping to UPLINQ’s portfolio of clients.
- Manage team, clients, and their scope of work to ensure internal and external (i.e. tax) deadlines are met.
- Build and implement scalable bookkeeping processes that allow UPLINQ to provide high quality bookkeeping services at scale.
- Spearhead solutions with clients and step in to manage client interactions as needed (i.e. high value clients).
- Provide input to engineers and product team to ensure UPLINQ’s internal bookkeeping system and automation are being built to streamline UPLINQ’s service offerings in line with accounting standards.
- Ensure and manage the transition of high quality bookkeeping clients to the UPLINQ Tax team for tax filing, tax advisory services, and other offerings.
Qualifications
- Significant experience with start-to-end bookkeeping, including but not limited to categorization, reconciliation, AR/AP, payroll-related journals, financial statements review, and handoff to tax advisors.
- Experience hiring and scaling an accounting team.
- Experience creating and implementing accounting processes within a team (SOPs, quarterly close, monthly close).
- Experience working closely with tax advisors and tax-focused CPAs.
- Desire to approach accounting fundamentals with technology; possessing an open mind, adaptability, and excitement about UPLINQ’s vision.
- Uphold an attitude that no task is too big or too small. Demonstrate a willingness to manage some clients early on to ensure they fully understand UPLINQ’s system and that all UPLINQ clients receive quality bookkeeping.
- The ideal candidate has at least 3 years experience in Client Accounting Services, preferably in management.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing systems and processes.
- CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Entrepreneurial experience is highly preferred. Venture-backed start up experience is a bonus!
