Seeking an Accounting Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. Ideal for a leader in a fast-paced setting with a dedication to detailed financial processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger functions.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to support career growth, team performance, and succession planning.
- Manage and complete the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure the integrity of data.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and US GAAP across all transactions and reporting activities.
- Coordinate the revenue recognition process in accordance with accounting standards and Thermo Fisher Accounting Policy.
- Manage all government remittances, including GST/HST, and other required filings.
- Coordinate corporate income tax filings and support other tax compliance requirements.
- Review OCOGS accounts to validate accuracy and accurate classification of transactions.
- Coordinate annual physical inventory counts and review audit results.
- Coordinate annual updates of standard costs by the Operations team, and review DL/OH rates for accuracy and changes.
- Participate in the evaluation, implementation, and integration of financial systems and process improvements.
- Collaborate on projects and ad-hoc initiatives to support business goals.
- Technical and Functional Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Decision Making: Make informed decisions based on detailed analysis and good judgment.
- Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to various collaborators, both internal and external.
- Leadership: Encourage and develop the accounting team, encouraging a culture of growth and excellence.
- Strategic Agility: Think strategically and act tactically to achieve both short-term and long-term business goals.
- Building Effective Teams: Construct a strong team dynamic, encouraging collaboration and dedication.
- Managing Vision and Purpose: Align the team with Thermo Fisher Scientific's mission and values.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred!
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and other relevant accounting standards!
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in financial software and systems; experience with ERP systems preferred.
