This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s Corporate Office locations in Scottsdale, AZ.
The Hills Golf Club is seeking a full-time, year-round Accounting Manager to join the Finance & Accounting Department. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Complete month end accounting closing/reporting including standard & recurring journal entries, allocations, payroll entries, real estate closings, and review of detailed general ledgers.
Maintain accurate general and subsidiary ledgers, including reconciliations.
Oversee accounts receivable and related intercompany billings.
Monthly reporting to include balance sheet reconciliations, roll forwards and financial statements.
Maintain intercompany accounts ensuring they are in balance.
Provide assistance with accounts payable when necessary.
Adhoc projects as directed by development controller or CFO.
Participate in the annual external audit exercise.
Process improvement and implementation of current GAAP/FASB pronouncements.
Provide exceptional service and communication at all times with members, guests, and team members.
Coordinate with or assist other departments as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Four (4) to six (6) years of experience, preferable in development or real estate accounting.
Prior knowledge of job cost and Work in Progress, preferred
Prior working knowledge of accounting applications to include Sage/Intacct, preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.
Additional Requirements
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours.
Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
