The Role

Exus Renewables North America is a next-generation Independent Power Producer that develops, owns, and operates renewable energy assets (Wind, Solar and Battery Storage) while providing world class asset management services for over 5 GW of renewable energy assets to third parties.  Exus has a proven track record of constructing and commercializing renewable energy assets and they are building their portfolio by acquiring and building utility-scale renewables projects and guiding those still in development through to full operational status.
As part of Exus’ asset management business, the firm undertakes full technical and commercial management of renewable energy portfolios worldwide. Exus draws on its wide-ranging expertise to optimize technical performance, reduce financial risk, and ensure long-term revenue certainty for their own and their clients’ renewable energy assets.

Exus is seeking an Accounting Manager that will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities for the company. They will be responsible for reviewing financial transactions, account statements, reconciling accounts, and resolving bank discrepancies. They will write accurate financial reports to discuss with the senior management, respond to the team's inquiries and concerns, and strategize to improve financial processes.
Please note: this is an fully onsite role with 4 days in office, 1 day remote, with reasonable flexibility in our downtown Pittsburgh office.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure technical compliance for a variety of accounting topics under US GAAP, including complex areas such as derivatives, business combinations and consolidation/VIE/intercompany.
  2. Prepare and issue monthly and quarterly financial reports, including assisting with annual audited financial statements and tax filings
  3. Oversee general accounting functions including reconciliations, collections, accruals, fixed assets and debt.
  4. Ensure all accounting practices are compliant under the law and consistent with accounting principles.
  5. Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end variance to budget and prior period analyses.
  6. Ensure compliance filings including income and sales and use taxes are submitted on time.
  7. Assist in the preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  8. Supervise, mentor and develop the accounting team, ensuring effective performance and professional growth.
  9. creating internal controls and policies system migration and other process improvements and automation.


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; preference for candidates with CPA or MBA. Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
  2. 5+ years’ accounting experience with at least 1 year in a managerial role; public accounting experience preferred.
  3. Technical knowledge of US GAAP including required experience with leasing standards.
  4. Understanding of tax laws and government guidelines pertaining to energy and corporate investments highly preferred.
  5. Experience with the preparation of annual, audited financial statements including footnotes.
  6. Ability to interpret complex agreements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  7. Experience managing simultaneous complex activities in a high-growth, start-up environment.
  8. Wind and/or solar energy project development, renewable energy industry and partnership experience a plus.
