Accounting Manager

YOUR ROLE
As Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for recording and reconciling the financial results for the Variable Annuity separate accounts and broker dealer entity as part of the Operations Controllership team.
What you will be doing
- Prepare monthly journal entries for Variable Annuity separate accounts and Capital Brokerage Corporation (CBC)
- Prepare and analyze year-end financial reports including separate account financial statements, statutory green books, SEC 24F-2 filings and SEC NCEN filings
- Consolidate and analyze monthly financial statements for CBC
- Assist with preparation of broker dealer Focus report
- Load data to separate account database ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist with administration, maintenance and testing of separate account database
- Responsible for monthly admin system report reconciliations and correction of outages
- Responsible for monthly performance report production and accuracy
- Reconcile ledger accounts monthly and correct outages
- Manage annual Dividend Received Deduction process for the tax department utilizing external support team
- Assist with audit requests as needed
- Assist variable accounting external pricing team
- Review trading activity on a rotation basis
- Ability to be on call off normal working hours to assist external support teams
- Must be able to pass FINRA series 28 exam within 12 months of hire
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 3+ years related experience
- Prior financial statement preparation
- Advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Nice to have
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Insurance industry knowledge, particularly variable products, and broker/dealer
- TM1, Oracle Financials experience
- FINRA Series 6, 99, 27 or 28
