We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Accounting Team based in our New York, New York Headquarters.

JOB SUMMARY 

This role is responsible for Content Licensing Revenue Accounting, supporting the sales of the AMC National Networks, IFC and RLJE Films portfolio. This role will be responsible for all content licensing revenue to include fixed fee sales and Electronic Sales Transactions (EST). This role will be expected to account for transactions in accordance with US GAAP and the Company Accounting policy.  

As a member of the Finance/Accounting team, you’ll be responsible for the below activities 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Accounting for content licensing revenue in accordance with ASC 606 

  • Lead and manage the entire period-end financial close process for content licensing (fiscal month, quarter, and year-end), liaising with Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting and FP&A teams as needed 

  • Work closely with the Accounts Receivable teams to ensure revenue is billed and correctly recognized each month. Answer questions to help facilitate collections and cash application. 

  • Ensure the timely and accurate accounting treatment of all transactions under US GAAP, including day-to-day transactions as well as complex, non-recurring transactions. Must have experience reading and interpreting revenue contracts. 

  • Review and prepare various period-end account reconciliations and journal entries 

  • Prepare and/or review various analyses to identify unusual activity and ensure transactions are properly accounted for, including account variance analyses, balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses, etc. 

  • Assist the Tax department, External reporting, and Audit teams to provide requested information as needed. 

  • Lead the centralization and automation of the Electronic Sales transactions billing and accruals with our third-party partner.  

  • Onboard new customer statements and complete user acceptance training to ensure revenue transactions and reporting are accurate and complete. 

  • Work closely with the Financial Systems IT team 

  • Facilitate the quarterly review and annual audit process. Ensure timely and accurate information flow between the accounting team, external auditors, and Internal Audit 

  • Ownership of all SOX key controls related to Content Licensing Revenues 

QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred) 

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience

  • CPA preferred

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, with focus on ASC606, and SOX required 

  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines 

  • Strong attention to detail. Ability to organize, prioritize, delegate and multi-task responsibilities both individually and for the team 

  • Strong project management, organizational and presentation skills 

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) and interpersonal skills; strong writing skills 

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities 

  • Intellectual curiosity and healthy skepticism 

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers and business partners 

  • Media and Entertainment industry experience preferred 

The base compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 commensurate with experience.
