We’re partnering with a well-established real estate investment and property management organization to identify an Accounting Manager who enjoys leading people, improving processes, and building a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop a team of accountants and accounting support professionals.
- Assist with workload planning, staffing, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented culture.
- Monitor team performance and ensure critical accounting deadlines are met.
Accounting Oversight
- Review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for a portfolio of real estate assets.
- Review general ledger activity, bank reconciliations, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee cash distributions, funding requests, and other treasury-related activities.
- Ensure timely processing of critical payments, including vendor invoices, debt service, taxes, and other significant obligations.
- Review management fee calculations and intercompany or inter-property transactions.
- Serve as an escalation point for accounting questions and client or operational requests.
Month-End & Financial Reporting
- Oversee the month-end close process for assigned portfolios.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.
- Partner with operations and leadership to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting processes.
Annual Responsibilities
- Coordinate year-end reporting requirements, including tax reporting and audit support.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Review operating expense recoveries and other annual reconciliations where applicable.
- Ensure accounting systems are updated with approved budgets and other annual changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including experience reviewing financial statements and leading month-end close.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus.
Ideal Background
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience within commercial or residential real estate, property management, or another multi-entity environment is highly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience using ERP or property accounting software.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Collaborative communicator who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and partnering across the business.
