Job Summary
A Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for one or more complex functions within accounting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position will oversee complicated projects that span across accounting functions and will be the primary resource in responding to the complex accounting matters. This leader supervises other managers and/or accountants and is responsible for strategically managing their team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year- end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position interacts with senior levels of management throughout the organization on accounting practices and policies.

Pay Range: $86,200.00 - $125,600.00 - $165,000.00
Job Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confirms financial status by coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data. Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Supports budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Oversees accounting projects that impact multiple areas of accounting and finance. Ensures an appropriate team is assigned to the projects, assists in overcoming challenges to the projects or escalates to management, reports regularly on project status and needs and delivers project results.
- Provides accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and financial reviews ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Identifies trends and offers insight for consideration by senior management. Resolves non-routine accounting concerns across departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and accounting policies.
- Responds to inquiries from executives and senior leadership regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc. Participates in special projects as assigned.
- Responsible for talent management functions including employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
- Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or related
- Minimum experience required: 7+ Years accounting experience, including experience working at a large financial institution.
- 3+ years of leadership experience.
- 2+ years of experience working on complex accounting projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or related.
- CPA.
Job Competencies:
- Requires strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to relay complicated information in a simple manner.
- Previous project management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access.
- Ability to demonstrate strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
