Accounting Lead ME

Job Purpose:

The Local Accounting Lead is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate monthly closings, and maintaining compliance with local tax regulations and group financial policies. This role also oversees audits, supports banking operations, and acts as a key liaison with local and group stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full accounting cycle including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank, fixed assets…
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure local books are aligned with group reporting standards (IFRS or other as applicable).

• Coordinate and ensure timely submission of all tax filings (VAT, CIT, WHT, GMT etc.) in compliance with local regulations.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Liaise with external tax consultants and local tax authorities as needed.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on the business.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and group finance policies.

• Main point of contact for local banking partners.

• Prepare regular financial reports for local and group management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, including experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Solid understanding of local GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with tax compliance and dealing with audits.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.
• Proficient in accounting software SAP
