POSITION PURPOSE:
Our firm is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accounting Intern to join our team for an 8-week program during the Summer of 2025. The Accounting Intern will gain industry experience while applying and expanding their accounting knowledge and skills in a professional setting. The main functions the intern will be exposed to relating to the accounting and external reporting cycle are Property Accounting, Fund Accounting, and Financial Reporting. Such exposure is intended to provide invaluable insights into accounting in the real estate industry, including but not limited to:
- Property-level accounting including tenant billings, accounts payable processing, and property-level financial data analysis.
- Fund-level accounting including fund-level accruals and accounting estimates, accounting research and policies, and fund-level financial data analysis.
- Financial reporting includes financial statement compilation and analysis, including reviewing peer filings for updated disclosures on emerging issues, ensuring disclosures that compliant with SEC rules and regulations, and interacting with Big 4 auditors for relevant audit requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist assigned team in completing assigned projects within department guidelines and budget guidelines.
- Learn to identify and communicate accounting/audit issues, technical matters, and improvement opportunities discovered during the close, reporting, or audit processes.
- Learn excellent project management skills to allow multiple projects to run concurrently and ensure timely completion.
- Receive training to use various financial systems / tools and improve your skills with Microsoft office suite.
- Gain experience interacting with internal business partners, management, and senior management personnel.
ABOUT YOU:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
- Strong academic track record, minimum GPA of 3.0
- Beginner to Intermediate understanding of US GAAP and auditing principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to intern full time (32 hours / week) in the Summer of 2025, preferably for a minimum of eight weeks
