The Accounting Coordinator will provide accounting support within the Accounting Controls team, meeting the specified deadlines and following regulatory/financial reporting requirements. This position will also provide accounting support to management reporting and financial/statutory and GAAP reporting, accounts payable, accounting operations, treasury, tax, variable processing, investment accounting, and accounting systems.
• This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE) and partially from home.
What you do:
- Reconcile company bank accounts to the corresponding general ledger accounts, comparing outstanding checks and other debit/credits listed on the bank statement to the ledger, including following up on all reconciling items, and preparing reconciliations for supervisor sign-off for assigned accounts.
- Process stop payments, check replacements, and provide paid check copies to internal associates when requested.
- Support the unclaimed property letter process, updating addresses, communicating with external clients, and following up on questions.
- Generating unclaimed property reports, payments to the states, and processing the accounting.
- Accountable for performance and results of appropriate units.
- Provide support to other Accounting Control positions within the team, assigned projects, and other duties as assigned.
- Works independently within established procedures; may assist with coordinating the work of others but not a formal supervisor.
- Responsible for identifying and solving complex problems and will be consulted when problems arise with little or no precedent.
What you bring:
- H.S. Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in accounting preferred.
- 2-4 years related experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and business-writing skills are desirable.
- Ability to meet deadlines; a strong commitment to customer service; must exhibit good teamwork, and a positive image.
- Microsoft Excel & Word proficiency
