We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our day-to-day accounting operations. You will take ownership of the month-end close process, along with key accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring accuracy, IFRS compliance, and operational excellence. Working closely with the Financial Controller and external bookkeepers, you will help streamline workflows, strengthen internal controls, and support the company’s continued growth. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is eager to grow and make an impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle accounting and support the month-end close process in coordination with external bookkeepers, including preparation of journal entries (prepaids, accruals, revenue) and supporting working papers.
- Ensure accounting transactions comply with IFRS, local accounting standards, tax, and legal requirements.
- Own end-to-end Accounts Payable operations, including posting, reviewing, and maintaining supporting documentation in Float, managing payment runs, and handling daily vendor communications.
- Support Accounts Receivable activities, including issuing invoices, monitoring collections, and assisting with revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15.
- Maintain payroll expense documentation and ensure accurate recording.
- Design, implement, and maintain reconciliation processes, with a focus on AP and Revenue accounts.
- Review quarterly sales tax filings prepared by external bookkeepers.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including consolidated financial statements.Support audit preparation and external auditor requests.
- Assist with strengthening internal controls, improving accounting processes, and supporting budget-to-actual analysis and forecasting as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A CPA designation (or actively pursuing) is preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on full-cycle month-end close.
- Experience in a tech/startup environment, or from a Big 4 public accounting firm, is a must.
- Strong, hands-on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions.
- Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), specifically exposure to revenue recognition (IFRS 15).
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero, Float, and Deel is required).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (an Excel assessment will be conducted).
