About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional ready to take the next step in their career. As the Accounting Analyst you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations and month-end close. You will be responsible for the Purchase to Payable process, including processing invoices and payments. You will take full ownership of these tasks, ensuring they are executed accurately and on time. In addition, you will manage asset processes and collaborate with relevant business stakeholders to streamline operations.
You will leverage your understanding of checks and balances to provide financial accounting insights to various stakeholders and identify areas for improvement. You will also play a key role in the period-end close process for specific areas and support other members of the Accounting & Reporting team on various topics and projects. You will become a specialist in our financial system (Workday) as well you will leverage new technologies to optimize and automate processes within the accounting department.
This position combines accounting expertise, analytical skills, and a passion for process automation to deliver impactful results. As the organization grows, your responsibilities will evolve, offering opportunities to develop and take on new challenges. You will be motivated to continuously improve processes and take on additional projects as they arise.
What you’ll do
- Process invoices and payments efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with period-end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, allocations, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage assets, leveraging the Asset module in Workday, and work with business owners to improve the overall process.
- Update, improve, and roll out the expenses policy in partnership with the People Team, and conduct spot checks to ensure compliance and identify areas for enhancement.
- Support the Accounting & Reporting team on topics such as external audits, financial statements for foreign entities, VAT declarations, internal reporting.
- Strive for continuous process improvements, particularly in automating invoicing and expenses (e.g. OCR implementation) to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely financial accounting as the company continues to grow.

What you’ll bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance.
- Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., journal entries, accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations).
- Familiarity with financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Extensive hands-on experience in financial accounting.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Strong aptitude for systems, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
- A passion for process automation and improvement, using new technologies like AI/ML.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- A reliable, hands-on approach with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with Workday Fin is a plus.

Our Offices and Way of Working
Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course, if the job description specifies that the role is 100% remote—such as for certain expert or sales positions—then that arrangement will apply.
