The Accountant will be an important contributor to YETI’s Global Accounting team, based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas. This role plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of YETI’s financial statements, maintaining a strong internal control environment, building effective cross-functional partnerships, and supporting the company’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Perform month-end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, and related financial analysis for assigned areas
Prepare monthly AP accruals, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper cutoff
Prepare and maintain SG&A-related expense accruals and reclassification entries
Partner closely with Payroll and FP&A teams to ensure accurate payroll-related journal entries, including wages, bonuses, benefits, and payroll taxes
Perform routine and ad hoc variance analysis and provide clear explanations for fluctuations
Identify and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness within the close process
Collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives and help update accounting processes as needed under established guidelines.
Document, monitor, and support improvements to internal controls over key financial processes
Prepare audit support and participate in quarterly and annual external audit procedures
Qualifications & Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience
CPA designation preferred
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statements
Experience performing account reconciliations and researching reconciling items
Curious, analytical thinker who asks “why” to get to the root cause of complex issues
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand complex business and financial matters
Collaborative, humble, and motivated to succeed as part of a team
Unquestioned personal integrity and strong work ethic
