About the RoleAs an Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, managing reconciliations, and reviewing profitability statements to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities✅ Maintain financial records associated with farrow-to-wean hog producers
✅ Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure transactions are accurately recorded
✅ Reconcile bank accounts monthly
✅ Manage and reconcile accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, accounts payable, and accrued expenses
✅ Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports
✅ Submit weekly and monthly financial reports
✅ Track farm project costs and determine capitalization versus expensing
✅ Perform variance analysis
✅ Assist with year-end close processes, including preparing information for tax preparers
✅ Support additional accounting projects as needed
✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
✔ ACA or CMA certification preferred
✔ 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in agriculture
✔ Basic understanding of tax basis accounting
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to participate in meetings of varying lengths
