We're now looking for an Accountant to support timely, robust monthly reporting for the Compass group and help keep our day-to-day finance operations running smoothly.

About the Role

You'll support the monthly reporting cycle for the consolidated group, including financial reporting, analysis and tax compliance, and run the finance operations behind it - from accounts payable and bank reconciliations through to debt recovery.

It's a broad, hands-on role for an early-career accountant who takes pride in accuracy and deadlines, with the chance to learn across the full finance function while working closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and wider Finance team.

What You'll Do

Month-End & Group Reporting

  • Perform month-end tasks and assist with preparing reporting.
  • Complete monthly GL account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the monthly consolidation of the group accounts.
  • Support the Financial Controller, and CFO with financail analysis, reporting and ad-hoc requests.

Tax, Audit & Controls

  • Assist with tax compliance and lodgements.
  • Support audit and statutory accounts.
  • Contribute to the review and development of finance processes and controls.

Accounts Payable & Payroll

  • Process invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy.
  • Prepare and process payments.
  • Maintain vendor records and information
  • Assist with expense claims.
  • Support payroll processing.

Bank Reconciliation & Debt Recovery

  • Reconcile bank accounts, including allocating payments and transfers to the correct accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in bank statements.
  • Contact schools to follow up outstanding debts, and keep accurate records of recovery activity.
  • Implement effective debt collection strategies.

Finance Team Support

  • Provide general support to the finance team, including data entry and report preparation.
  • Ad-hoc tasks as requested by manager.

Requirements

About You

You will bring:

  • 2+ years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping or finance, including month-end, reconciliations and accounts payable.
  • CPA or CA membership, or currently working towards it.
  • A Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliation and debtor management.
  • A foundational understanding of tax compliance and lodgements.
  • Strong attention to detail, and comfort working to tight month-end deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills, and confidence following up debts with school customers.

Highly regarded

  • Exposure to group consolidation, or to audit and statutory accounts support.
  • Experience in a SaaS or education environment.

Skills Required
