What You'll Do

As the organization's lead accounting professional, you will oversee all core accounting and financial operations, including:

Financial Leadership

  • Manage month-end close and maintain accurate financial records
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses (including GL reconciliations, journal entries, government billing, AP/AR oversight, and Board Reporting ) using GAAP
  • Develop budget-to-actual reporting and provide insights to leadership
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning

Grant & Fund Accounting

  • Manage restricted funds and grant accounting
  • Monitor allowable expenditures and grant balances
  • Prepare reimbursement requests and required financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements

Payroll & Financial Operations

  • Process payroll and related financial reporting
  • Oversee cash management activities and banking relationships
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate annual audit preparation
  • Assist with Form 990, Form 5500, and regulatory reporting
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and GAAP

Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a member of the leadership team
  • Communicate financial information to non-financial audiences
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
  • Support organizational initiatives and special projects

  • Three or more years of progressive accounting experience utilizing generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience managing month-end close processes

  • Strong general ledger and reconciliation skills
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis experience
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Compensation

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
