Job Purpose 

 

The Accountant is responsible for preparing and recording journal entries, analyzing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and assisting with internal and external reporting. This role plays a key part in validating financial records, supporting operations, and contributing to management reporting.

 

Responsibilities

 

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger analysis.

  • Analyze operational and corporate income statement variances to identify and explain fluctuations or outstanding items.

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions as assigned.

  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation.

  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (e.g., FP&A, Operations, Supply-chain, HR) to ensure proper financial treatment of transactions.

  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or related field in lieu of education.

  • CPA or progress toward relevant certification (preferred but not required).

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and capable of researching and applying accounting standards.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service mindset.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work scheduled or unscheduled overtime as needed. 

  

Working Conditions 

 

  • Primarily office-based, with most work performed at a desk or computer.

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
