Accountant
Huntsman is seeking an Accountant supporting the Finance Division located in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.
Job Scope
The Accountant supports the financial accounting function for Huntsman Building Solutions (HBS) and is responsible for a wide range of general ledger and accounting activities. This role contributes to monthly close processes, financial reconciliations, audit support, SOX compliance, inventory accounting, and financial analysis while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
In summary, as the Accountant, you will:- Support monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, variance analysis, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly journal entries, including accruals, inventory adjustments, FX revaluations, prepaid schedules, PPV, and overhead analysis.
- Perform inventory reconciliations, material costing activities, and related gain/loss postings.
- Support inventory audits and review obsolete inventory reserves.
- Assist with financial statement reviews and actual versus budget analysis.
- Support quarterly and annual audit requirements, including preparation of audit schedules and PBC requests.
- Maintain compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.
- Develop, automate, and improve accounting reports and processes.
- Provide analytical support to cross-functional business partners.
- Ensure the timely completion of accounting deliverables and assigned projects.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2+ years of accounting experience in general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliations, or related accounting functions.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work standards.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing business priorities and processes.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across functions.

- Frequent collaboration with accounting, finance, audit, and cross-functional business teams.
- Requires prolonged use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel functionality.
