1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. 2. Performs key tasks in the month-end close process by analyzing accounts and collecting data needed to prepare journal entries to properly reflect the financial activities within the organization; uses professional judgement to determine items of concern to report to department leadership. 3. Maintains subsidiary ledgers on a monthly basis, ensuring the subsidiary and the general ledger are balanced at all times; researches and resolves any discrepancies. 4. Reconciles bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and other specified general ledger accounts on a consistent monthly basis; determines required adjustments or restatement, and advises department leadership of the adjustments and/or restatements in a timely manner. 5. Prepares regulatory, tax, external report filings on a quarterly and/or annual basis as required. 6. Produces the month-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP; prepares various analytical narratives utilizing expert judgement and knowledge to support the statements and explain variances to budget/prior year, in accordance with specified monthly time frames. 7. Stays current with GAAP and reporting requirements for not-for-profit organizations, particularly within the healthcare industry; uses independent judgement and discretion in the interpretation of regulations and how they translate to the Hospital's financial reporting both internal and external; participates in educational and training opportunities. 8. Documents all policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility. 9. Protects the organization by keeping information secure and confidential. 10. Prepares annual audit schedules according to time schedules and assists independent auditors as needed. 11. May be required to assist in development of operating and capital budgets as requested. 12. Evaluates and advises on financial operations including appropriate recording of revenue and expenses, and financial commitments. 13. May be required to participate in cross-training. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related (required if hired after April 1, 2025)
- Three years of accounting experience
- Experience in healthcare
- Knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to perform month-end close, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Experience preparing regulatory, tax, and external report filings
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
