POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant - Reinsurance is responsible for supporting the internal controls, financial reporting and accounting for the Company’s activities. This role participates in projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting requirements. The Accountant – Reinsurance will closely interact across several areas of the business and work with the wider Finance Team to add value across relevant teams.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Help with preparation of accurate financial reporting, both for internal and external purposes following required GAAP and regulatory standards, including providing support for more technical areas.
- Work with relevant partners to ensure accuracy of transactions and financial disclosure.
- Support the continued enhancement and ongoing development of multiple financial systems ensuring that all Finance needs are met.
- Assist with completing aspects of the monthly and quarterly close, including financial reporting, in compliance with US, or other relevant GAAP, or other regulatory requirements.
- Help prepare and review detailed analysis and monthly/quarterly reconciliations, including reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Helping with the preparation of technical accounting memos observing US GAAP and help prepare more technically challenging accounting memos.
- Ensure appropriate SOX 404 processes exist and are followed for preparation and submission of financial data.
- Communicate with our auditors.
Strategic Projects
- Contribute to miscellaneous project work and provide general assistance to the Finance Department and other teams.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the CAO, Global Corporate Controller and Business Leads.
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:
Educational/Professional Requirements:
- Degree in Accountancy/Finance or similar
- At least 2 to 5 years relevant prior experience (Ideally Big Four audit experience, preferably within (re)insurance).

- Strong Excel skills essential

Skills Required
- Degree in Accountancy or Finance (or similar)
- 2 to 5 years relevant accounting experience
- Big Four audit experience
- Experience within reinsurance or insurance accounting
- Strong Excel skills
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Familiarity with SOX 404 controls and compliance
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
