Job Summary

Accountant III's are staff professionals who apply specialized knowledge, typically as individual contributors, in assisting management in matters that require special interpretation or expertise. The teammate in this position utilizes their professional (i.e., discipline-specific) and/or institutional knowledge, including GAAP and Statutory accounting theories, practices and techniques, to perform department activities. This Accountant III role in Corporate Accounting and Reporting will perform all typical corporate accounting responsibilities with a particular emphasis on various accruals, the monthly administrative expense close, and coordinating the year-end accrual process with other business areas. Strong interpersonal skills are required.

Note: Please be advised that this is a hybrid position. The preferred candidate for this role would live within a commutable range of our Corporate Headquarters in Jacksonville, FL. While this role can work remotely much of the time, on-site attendance will be required to meet the needs of the business.

What You Will be Doing:

  • Performs more complex accounting functions in relationship to journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, internal/external audits, and financial statements, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Statutory requirements as applicable.
  • Ensures adherence to financial controls and accounting policies/procedures, with a particular emphasis on the administrative expense and accrual process.May provide technical consultative services or provide subject matter expertise on key financial/accounting matters to other areas of the organizations.
  • May identify, recommend and implement quality and productivity improvements.
  • May provide recurring and ad hoc reports and analyses to appropriate leaders and/or areas within the organization.

What You Must Have:

4+ years related work experience. Experience Details: Experience in general ledger close, financial statement preparation, financial analysis and financial research

Related Bachelor's degree required Accounting or Finance

One year of public accounting experience may be substituted for two years corporate accounting experience

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

What We Would Prefer You Have:

Insurance industry experience

Experience with statutory accounting

Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger

Experience with Hyperion/Smartview

General Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

Typical Annualized Hiring Range (Role Budget): $68,100 - $75,100

Annualized Salary Range: $68,100 - $110,600

Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
