Role Description:
As an Accountant II, Financial Reporting, you will play an important role in supporting the preparation and analysis of financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. You will execute journal entries, prepare analytical reports, and assist in the month-end close process across multiple accounting bases, including Statutory (STAT), GAAP, and IFRS. In this role, you will contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and board presentations while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the accounting department.
You will also have the opportunity to research accounting principles and industry developments, assist with annual budgeting activities, support system enhancements and testing efforts, and coordinate with internal and external auditors. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, managing multiple priorities, and continuing to grow their technical accounting expertise.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, business management, business administration or a related field is required.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 or more years of relevant accounting experience in accounting or the insurance industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and complete responsibilities within established deadlines
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and multitasking abilities
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies
- Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
- This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
Preferred Qualifications:

- MBA
- Experience with PeopleSoft
- Experience with STAT, GAAP, and/or IFRS accounting principles

Safety National is committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-based compensation. In our vision to be First with Co-Workers, compensation is only one piece of the comprehensive total rewards package we offer. The target base salary range for this position is $66,500 to $86,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
