Job Purpose
To maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date financial records, perform reconciliations, review accounting entries, support month-end closing and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily bank, cash, vault and other account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct inter-company reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting schedules.
• Review and approve journal entries within delegated authority.
• Maintain accurate General Ledger and accounting records using QuickBooks or a similar system.
• Review and clear aged, unusual or unsupported balance sheet items.
• Support monthly and year-end financial close and preparation of management reports.
• Maintain proper documentation and compliance with internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits and respond to audit queries.
• Identify accounting issues, recommend solutions and escalate unresolved matters appropriately.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3–5 years' relevant accounting experience within financial services, banking, money transfer, foreign exchange, microfinance.
• Strong experience in bank reconciliations, General Ledger, inter-company accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
• Experience working with multiple entities or currencies.
• Experience working in a cash-intensive businesses or remittance operations environment
• Must have a valid Kenyan passport.
• Member of a professional body.
