What you’ll do & Who you are

Join one of Germany's leading digital marketplaces! As an Accountant (d/f/m), you will be key in shaping Financial Excellence at mobile.de, balancing statutory German requirements with the agility of a global tech company.


You'll be at the heart of our dynamic Financial Accounting & Controlling team (13 people including this role) in Berlin-Charlottenburg and report to the local Head of Accounting/Controlling.
Important: This role is based in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Candidates based in Berlin should be comfortable travelling to our Munich office 1–2 days per week during the first 6 months. We are also open to candidates currently based in Munich who are willing to commute to Berlin 1–2 times per week during the same initial onboarding period — or who are open to relocating to Berlin over time.
Job requirements

What You Bring:

  • You are the specialist: Expert knowledge of HGB / German GAAP is essential, complemented by strong IFRS knowledge
  • You have minimum of 5+ years professional experience in roles with a strong focus on Accounting, ideally gained within a fast-paced, data-driven environment (e.g. e-commerce or digital tech, or top consulting firms), where you mastered the balance of agility and HGB compliance
  • A college degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Accounting and Controlling, or a successfully completed relevant vocational training program (e.g., tax clerk, industrial clerk) combined with an advanced vocational qualification (e.g., Certified Accountant IHK)
  • Proven operational finance capability; strong close & compliance experience
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex problems in a clear concise way for the business
  • You will need to collaborate and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with modern ERP systems (e.g., SAP, OneStream, Navision) and finance tech stacks (e.g., Salesforce). Proven ability to quickly adapt to new software and tools is a plus.
  • Business fluent in German (must-have), strong English skills in writing and speaking

Job responsibilities

What You Will Do:

Your work will be central to our operational excellence and digital transformation:
  • Preparation of month-, quarter- and year end closes in line with IFRS and local German GAAP requirements
  • Preparation of financial statement according to local German GAAP (HGB)
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of VAT return and supporting the preparation of Tax returns
  • Support external financial and tax audits and communications with German authorities and auditors
  • Act as a trusted finance expert and partner for our local mobile.de teams (Business, FP&A, Legal, HR) on accounting and billing matters, and collaborate closely with different central finance teams in Amsterdam/Barcelona.
  • Drive the continuous improvement and digitalization of our local accounting processes, supporting the implementation of new systems and controls in a rapidly evolving tech environment.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience focused on accounting
