Oue Client is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. /wk.) Assistant Accountant for the Finance Department. Working under the direct supervision of the Finance Director in a very fast-paced environment, the qualified applicant will be responsible for all account payables and account receivables.
The Assistant Accountant may be required to lead other workers in accomplishing assigned work, perform non-supervisory work, and provide on-the-job training for new employees. The role is performed in a typical office setting with minimal physical demands or occupational risks. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, interact effectively and appropriately with the public and other personnel, perform under stressful situations, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidential information.
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Accounting
Three to five years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Essential Functions:
1. Review and process all account payables in compliance with town and governmental requirements and regulations; verify the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of purchase orders submitted by departments; ensure payment out of proper budget accounts; maintain records of all transactions.
2. Review and process all account receivables in compliance with town and governmental requirements and regulations; post and prove disbursements; balance cash reconciliation and receivables; maintain records of all transactions.
3. Proof data for accounting warrants.
4. Generate all necessary reports weekly, quarterly, and annually.
5. Assist Finance Director/Town Accountant with everyday office functions as needed; perform duties of the Town Accountant in their absence.
6. Perform a variety of clerical duties, including answering the telephone, ordering supplies, and maintaining office order.
Compensation:
Starting salary range based on education and experience: $54,288 - $61,136, with a comprehensive benefits package.
