The Elevator Pitch
Do you want to gain hands-on experience in Corporate Development? Are you eager to learn and develop critical skills for your future career?
In this 10-week Corporate Development Intern role, you will help conduct impactful research for the Corporate Development team. Not only will you be gaining critical market research and strategy skills, but you will also have the opportunity to work with all aspects of the business (i.e., sales, customer success, finance).
This internship is a 10 week program: June 9nd – August 15th
Success in the Role: What are performance outcomes will work toward completing?
In the first 5 weeks, you will:
· Understand Evolv, our product and culture, what we do, and why we do it
· Embrace our core values by being kind and respectful to other Evolv colleagues
· Consult with internal business leaders to understand needs, challenges, and pain points of our customers
· Learn how to successfully use various market research tools
· Monitor the weapons detection technology ecosystem and identify new trends
In the last 5 weeks, you will:
· Become the go-to person for market research in a specific technology area
· Synthesize all market research insights into a clear and concise presentation
· Make strategic recommendations for future organic and inorganic growth opportunities
· Have a better idea of what you want or don’t want out of your career
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Communication
· Learn how to synthesize research into critical business insights
· Work closely with stakeholders across the company
· Present the final summer long project to a large audience, including Executives
Strategic problem solving
· Develop 1-2 market intelligence briefs that highlight the relevance of emerging companies in the weapons detection ecosystem
· Develop a strategic recommendation for potential future growth opportunities
· Think outside the box to recommend new innovative solutions
Technical development
· Become proficient in market research tools (i.e., CBInsights, Crunchbase)
· Become comfortable working with large customer datasets to help make data-driven recommendations
· Become fluent in Microsoft Suite products (i.e., Excel, Powerpoint)
· Learn how to create financial models to support growth opportunity business cases
Team engagement/Teamwork
· Connect daily with the Corporate Development team
· Know who's who across the company and be comfortable reaching out to anyone for support
· Identify mentors in other parts of the business to grow business acumen
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team?
You will be joining the Corporate Development team and reporting to the Senior Strategy Consultant. You will have the opportunity to work closely with members of the C-suite.
The team culture is one based on building trust, collaboration, on-going development through kindness, authenticity, courage, drive, and fun! The team is part hybrid so there will be opportunities to learn how to engage with remote workers.
Where is the role located?
The location of this role is based in Waltham, MA with some flexibility in being remote some days. We require our interns to be onsite at a minimum, 3 days of the work week. We do not provide relocation assistance at this time.
What is the pay range?
The hourly pay range for this internship position is $20-$27 an hour. Our pay ranges are determined by your current level of education.
