Brown & Brown is seeking an Account Coordinator, Employee Benefits to join our growing team in Portland, OR.
The Account Coordinator assists a team of Employee Benefits Account Managers with routine tasks while learning the Employee Benefits Insurance Industry. Functions may include data entry/processing, filing, reviewing contracts, and peer reviewing customer materials. Additionally, the AC will be actively engaged in learning activities such as in-house training courses, mentoring, and industry certification in preparing to move into the Account Manager, Technical Analyst or Marketing Analyst position in the future.
How You Will Contribute:
Support a team of 5-6 Small and Large Group Account Managers
Perform routine clerical tasks including data entry and filing of data/materials related to customers’ employee benefits plans
Work with insurance carriers to request materials for customers (e.g., Open Enrollment materials) and/or follow up on previous requests made by AMs
Support AMs with processing adds, terms or changes to employee enrollments
Communicate with carriers regarding customer billing discrepancies or simple claims issues
Generate personalized forms for each customer (e.g., Annual Compliance Notices)
Review carrier contracts for accuracy
Draft employee communications materials for peer review by AM
Support the Benefits team by organizing carrier meetings, including calendaring and onsite support for those meetings
Read and respond to all emails within 1 business day
On occasion, pull files from BAM and email to Producers, at AM’s request
Skills & Experience to be Successful:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or be a high school graduate with a minimum of one (1) year of office environment experience; other combination of work and/or education will be considered
Willingness and desire to learn about Employee Benefits
Fluent with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Word, and Excel
Ability to learn software program at an accelerated ability
Exceptional telephone demeanor
Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Maintain a high level of confidentiality
