What We're Looking For:
The purpose of this internship is to prepare students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide students with experiences that provide insights into a career with Zebra. Students will be positioned for success with training and hands-on experiences, invited to social and development activities, and provided a professional mentor relationship.The Advanced Data Capture group is part of Zebra’s Asset Visibility Solutions
(AVS) organization. Our mission is to bring together cutting-edge technical
innovation and customer-focused execution to deliver a comprehensive
ecosystem of intelligent Advanced Data Capture Solutions such as bar code
scanners, Computer Vision and RFID that organizations rely upon to run their
businesses.
A Firmware/Software Engineering Intern will work with our product
development software engineering team. The Software Engineering Intern will
be given assignments in support of our product development efforts, working
on design, coding and testing of embedded software for data acquisition
devices using 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers. The Software Engineering
Intern may also be asked to develop Windows/Linux based applications to test /
verify software and hardware functionality.

This position requires hybrid work (3 days/week in office) in the Holtsville, NY office.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar
- Must have an anticipated graduation date from December 2027-2030
- Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of the C/C++ programming language
- Understanding microcontrollers, real-time operating systems (RTOS),and basic electronics.
- Interest in embedded programming
- Adaptability and Learning Agility – Willingness to learn quickly, embrace new tools or methods, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Technical Skills – Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic familiarity with technology solutions
- Integrity – Commitment to ethical behavior and confidentiality
- Interest in retail operations or workforce/task management software
Salary: USD $29.00-$33.00/hour
