What you’ll do as a MISO Intern:

  • Help turn complex engineering problems into clear requirements, models, or design decisions that make it easier for teams to move forward confidently.
  • Work with product teams, architects, and operators to clarify questions, align solutions, and reduce confusion.
  • Build systems engineering artifacts such as system models, requirements, and interface definitions that support real product teams and projects.
  • Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO’s broader mission.
  • Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

We are looking for students who…

  • Are pursuing Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering-related degrees (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Have curiosity, critical thinking, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills.
  • Communicate clearly and can explain complex topics in simple, understandable ways.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfortable learning engineering tools and modeling concepts.
  • Are eager to learn systems thinking, requirements analysis, modeling, and how large-scale grid systems operate.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027.  No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
