What you’ll do as a MISO Intern:

  • Take on meaningful, high‑impact legal projects, gaining exposure to how MISO’s Legal & Federal Affairs team supports the organization through research, drafting, reviewing materials, and learning the fundamentals of utility regulatory and corporate law.
  • Work closely with attorneys and team members in Little Rock to understand how legal considerations influence MISO’s operations, federal compliance, and broader business objectives.
  • Participate in lunch & learn sessions, cross‑departmental networking, and mentorship experiences that help you understand how every part of MISO supports reliable power delivery to 45 million people.
  • Contribute to real‑world assignments such as policy research, basic contract language review, organizational governance support, stakeholder considerations, or other early‑career legal tasks suitable for undergraduate students.
  • Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO’s broader mission.
  • Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

We are looking for students who…

  • Are pursuing Law, Political Science, Environmental/Energy Policy, or a related degree.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and eagerness to learn, accountability, mission‑driven focus, respect, and collaboration — the core values your Legal & Federal Affairs team prioritizes.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally and are comfortable conducting research, reviewing language, and supporting legal processes.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Teams, and Copilot.
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking, professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Are excited about gaining exposure to how federal affairs, corporate legal considerations, and regulatory obligations intersect in a real‑world energy environment.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027.  No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
