The team you’ll join
The StepStone Tax Team is responsible for tax compliance and reporting across all asset classes at the fund level. The team is based in La Jolla, with some members working out of the New York office. We work closely with outside vendors including EY, PwC and Deloitte.
About the role
As a Tax Summer Analyst you’ll be part of a collaborative and high-performing team that supports StepStone’s tax compliance and reporting functions. This internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to real-world tax processes, mentorship from experienced professionals, and the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects.

What you’ll do
Tax Summer Analysts will be responsible for supporting the activities of the tax team in reviewing tax deliverables, responding to requests from internal and external stakeholders and participating in tax related projects.
Key responsibilities
- Compiling and distributing tax withholding forms
- Assisting with the review of FATCA/CRS reporting
- Reviewing partner data inputs from Investor Services to ensure accurate reporting on the K-1s
- Creating a database of LP questions and standard responses to provide to Investor Services
- Communicating with the IRS and state jurisdictions to confirm available credits and resolve issues
- Coordinating the sharing of information between Fund Accounting and the tax vendors for the preparation of tax estimates
- Performing other ad hoc projects that reflect the broader needs of the Firm
What we’re looking for
- Undergraduate student currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to work legally in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
- Graduate in December 2027 to summer 2028
- GPA of 3.2 or above
- High proficiency in MS Word, Power Point and Excel
- Demonstrated track record of academic success
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player and strong work ethic

Salary: $30 / hour
