Job Description

P&G's legal internship program is designed to host a second-year law school student for the summer of 2027 in our Patents group. The program is instructive, challenging, and offers the opportunity for the selected participant to work directly with P&G patent attorneys on intellectual property issues impacting the Company and to experience a dynamic business environment first-hand. We do this by having one attorney take responsibility for coordinating the participant's work. Each coordinator arranges for the participant to work on legal projects from a variety of business units with the Patents group as well as to be involved in different types of hands-on experiences -- such as meetings with clients, researching IP issues, drafting patent applications and prosecution responses, etc. Because our internship program is very small, we are able to ensure that each participant receives numerous opportunities making for a unique and challenging experience.

Application Requirements:

  • Resume
  • Cover Letter
  • Current, unofficial law school transcript until an official transcript can be provided
  • Official undergraduate transcript(s) detailing relevant technical coursework for Patent Bar eligibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in legal research and analysis on various topics, with a strong emphasis on intellectual property, including patent prosecution and related IP matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including patent applications and prosecution responses.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions, providing insights and perspectives on ongoing legal matters with a supervising attorney, particularly those related to P&G's patent portfolio.
  • Engage in special projects that align with the intern's interests and the needs of the legal department, focusing on patent-related initiatives.

What We Offer:

  • A comprehensive internship experience with a focus on professional development in intellectual property law.
  • Mentorship from experienced legal patent professionals.
  • Opportunities to network with other P&G employees, lawyers and IP professionals.
  • Exposure to real-world legal challenges, especially in patent and technology law, and the chance to contribute to meaningful projects.

Application Deadline:

Please address your Cover Letter to Adam Heider and Priya Mistry and apply at PGCareers.

In your cover letter, please explain your interest in working at P&G, your Patent Bar eligibility, and how your background and skills align with the responsibilities of the intern position, particularly in intellectual property law. If you have any questions, please reach out at [email protected].
