Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Database Administrator / Database Administrator. This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems Sector in one of the following locations: Palmdale, CA / Edwards AFB, CA / Redondo Beach, CA / El Segundo, CA / San Diego, CA. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Product Support organization.
The selected candidate will implement and maintain the smooth operation and physical design of databases, ensuring reliable performance and availability. Other duties include:
- Conducting performance tuning of indexes and databases in general to optimize efficiency and responsiveness
- Reviewing database design and integration of systems, providing backup and recovery support, and recommending enhancements and/or improvements
- Maintaining security and integrity controls to safeguard data and database environments
- Formulating and enforcing policies, procedures, and standards related to database management
- Monitoring transaction activity and utilization to ensure effective resource usage and system stability
- Developing stored procedures and/or triggers, as needed, to support application and system requirements
This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Database Administrator (Level 1) or Database Administrator (Level 2).
Basic Qualifications for an Associate Database Administrator (Level 1)
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
- Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by December 2026.
- Be majoring in or having majored in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics or similar degree.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

- Be majoring in or having majored in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics or similar degree.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance.
- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
- Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
- Experience administering Oracle databases (including PL/SQL, installation, configuration, and upgrades).
- Experience with Oracle in Windows environments.
- Experience with MS Access–based applications and VBA.
- Experience with the Sunflower Asset Management Database.
- Familiarity with Python, PERL, and/or Java.
- Current Security+ certification.
Pay Range
- Associate Database Administrator (Level 1): $69,400.00 to $104,000.00
- Database Administrator (Level 2): $83,400.00 to $125,200.00
Skills Required
