2025 Summer Intern - Prescient Design

Department Summary

At Prescient Design, we develop cutting edge machine learning methods to tackle the hardest drug design problems. We are seeking exceptional graduate interns with a strong research background in machine learning (ML), a passion for independent research and technical problem-solving, and a proven ability to develop and implement ideas from research. 

This internship position is located in San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

• Develop methods that combine physics based approaches and knowledge with machine learning to characterize molecules

• Explore denoising models for representations with symmetries

Program Highlights

• Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

• Program start dates are in May/June 2025.

• A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

• Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

• Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education:

• Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)

Required Major: Computer Science, Physics, Biophysics, Mathematics are preferred. Chemistry may also apply if theoretical or computational.

Required Skills: 

• Comfortable with pytorch.

• Basic understanding of machine learning is required.

• Writing deployable code is necessary.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Experience with machine learning is highly desirable, preferably someone who has deep theoretical understanding or has demonstrated the ability to develop and code their own algorithms.

• Some experience with biomolecular systems is preferred but not strictly necessary.

• Experience with equivariance is desirable but not required.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
