JOB SUMMARY
The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas. This role supports the team by ensuring a safe and sanitary environment, contributing to the overall operations of the hotel's food and beverage department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
- Operational Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items.
- Assist with inventory management and stocking of supplies.
- Guest Services
- Ensure timely and efficient cleaning to support food service operations.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with guests and team members.
- Team Support and Training
- Assist in training new kitchen stewards as needed.
- Support team performance by collaborating with colleagues.
- Communication and Reporting
- Communicate effectively with the executive chef and other kitchen staff.
- Report any incidents or safety concerns immediately.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all hotel policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor and report chemical levels to the Chef
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities
- Previous experience in a kitchen or cleaning role is preferred
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: Occasional
- Standing/Walking: Frequent, including standing for long periods
- Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs, such as kitchen supplies and equipment
- Other Physical Requirements: Handling, grasping, and crouching as needed
Working Environment
- Interior: Kitchen and food preparation areas
