Develop methods to analyze the chemical and isotopic composition of seawater polysaccharides. Lead wet-chemical depolymerization, labeling, separation, and HPLC-MS characterization of oligosaccharides, using NMR and other analytical instruments. The role also involves oceanographic sampling, polysaccharide isolation, dissolved organic matter processing, and potentially radiocarbon sample preparation. This is a full-time, one-year postdoctoral appointment with possible extension.

Manages pre-award research administration for a portfolio of principal investigators, including funding opportunity reviews, proposal preparation and submission, budget development, compliance checks, electronic applications, sponsor communication, and award transitions. Collaborates with internal teams, sponsors, and partner institutions while ensuring adherence to federal regulations, institutional policies, and sponsor requirements.

Maintains and monitors aquaria and coral reactors for coral restoration research. Responsibilities include coral husbandry, water-quality testing, coral health and growth assessments, tissue extraction and analysis, data processing, troubleshooting instrumentation, documenting methods and results, training students, and collaborating with research staff. The role may also support field or at-sea research and requires occasional after-hours aquaria checks.

Coordinates logistics and administration for Ocean Carbon & Biogeochemistry activities, including venue and catering arrangements, contracts, travel support, reimbursements, invoices, budgets, vendors, participant communications, website updates, and project-office inquiries.

Leads facility-wide cybersecurity, cyberinfrastructure oversight, and software program direction for a distributed scientific research facility. Owns cybersecurity plans, risk registers, compliance activities, corrective actions, technical requirements, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder reporting. Oversees software development through the Software Development Manager, integrates data center and implementing-organization performance information, supports incident reporting, and represents the program to NSF, reviewers, governance bodies, and technical partners.

Maintains and repairs ship machinery, electrical equipment, propulsion systems, generators, hydraulics, HVAC, compressors, pumps, and the Alvin launch and recovery system. Stands engine room watches, supervises unlicensed watch standers, maintains operational logs, supports bunkering and freshwater loading, verifies safety devices, and participates in emergency drills. The role requires a U.S. Coast Guard engineering license, STCW training, medical certification, physical readiness, and extended sea assignments in hazardous marine conditions.

Supervises engine department personnel and oversees the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of ship machinery aboard the R/V Atlantis. Responsibilities include engine-room watches, maintenance scheduling, machinery inspections, HVAC and refrigeration systems, requisitions, inventory and machinery logs, repairs, safety devices, emergency procedures, and freshwater bunkering. The role requires extended sea service, marine engineering licensure, STCW training, physical readiness, and the ability to work in hazardous maritime conditions for three to five months continuously.

Postdoctoral researcher will analyze long-term plankton and oceanographic datasets, develop statistical and machine-learning methods, investigate plankton population and trophic transfer, participate in coupled physical-biological modeling, publish results, present at conferences, and contribute to proposals and collaborative research.

Develop and test instrumentation for measuring triple oxygen isotope composition of dissolved oxygen, design extraction and reduction systems, calibrate and field-test prototypes for at-sea use, analyze complex datasets, prepare manuscripts and reports, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Lead lab and field research on ocean sensing, whale detection systems, DMS trace-gas campaigns, and biologging instrument development. Manage lab operations, plan field seasons, deploy and maintain sensors, perform data analysis (Python/C/C++), contribute to publications, and coordinate with collaborators and regulatory stakeholders. Frequent regional and international travel and sea duty required.

Manage a portfolio of 125-150 major gift prospects, primarily in the NY/Tri-State region. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for five- to seven-figure gifts; develop individualized strategies; coordinate donor engagement and events; collaborate with leadership, scientists, volunteers, and Advancement teams; maintain CRM records; meet fundraising and portfolio goals; travel regularly and support campaign activities.

Lead development and execution of industry partnerships and funded research engagements by translating WHOI scientific capabilities into structured collaborations. Manage opportunity pipeline, stakeholder alignment, project formation, CRM tracking, relationship development, and coordination across multi-party initiatives. Engage researchers and external partners, mentor junior staff, and drive projects from concept to funded launch while ensuring portfolio continuity and effective communication.
