Lead Hewlett's U.S. Democracy Program with strategic vision, oversee grantmaking and program staff, conduct a program review, build coalitions, represent the Foundation externally, recruit and develop talent, and collaborate across Foundation teams to advance democratic resilience and institutional integrity. Role requires Bay Area residency, significant leadership experience, and frequent domestic travel.

Provide high-level administrative support to the Program Director and partner with the Program Operations Manager on program-wide coordination. Manage complex scheduling and travel, prepare briefings and correspondence, conduct research and synthesize findings, support social media and external communications, assist with recruiting and contract administration, maintain program files, and coordinate retreats and convenings. Use AI tools to support research and drafting while exercising judgment and discretion.

Provide cross-foundation operational and grantmaking support, managing grants across the lifecycle, coordinating workflows, ensuring compliance, preparing agreements, tracking budgets and timelines, and supporting Grants Management projects. Serve multiple program teams during transitions and high-volume periods while identifying process improvements to strengthen grantmaking operations.

Lead logistical planning and execution for internal and external convenings, manage timelines, budgets, vendors, contracts, and event tools. Build templates and dashboards, ensure accessibility and equity, support VIP speaker logistics, troubleshoot AV/tech, and serve as an internal events advisor across teams.

Support the Environment Program's Multilateral & Climate Finance portfolio by administering grants, managing budgets and cash flow, liaising with grantees and internal teams, preparing contracts and consultant agreements, tracking compliance, and contributing to program strategy, analysis, and events. Hybrid role based in Menlo Park with occasional travel (1-2 trips/year).

Manage a ~70-grantee portfolio advancing Artists, Communities, and Youth strategies; assess grantee progress and finances; solicit and evaluate proposals; draft analyses, RFPs, and memos; lead strategy, research, convenings, and evaluations; cultivate relationships with artists, grantees, funders, and partners; represent the Foundation externally; participate in internal Foundation work and culture. Position is an eight-year term based in the Bay Area with frequent local travel and evening/weekend event attendance.
