Lead Hewlett's U.S. Democracy Program with strategic vision, oversee grantmaking and program staff, conduct a program review, build coalitions, represent the Foundation externally, recruit and develop talent, and collaborate across Foundation teams to advance democratic resilience and institutional integrity. Role requires Bay Area residency, significant leadership experience, and frequent domestic travel.

Provide high-level administrative support to the Program Director and partner with the Program Operations Manager on program-wide coordination. Manage complex scheduling and travel, prepare briefings and correspondence, conduct research and synthesize findings, support social media and external communications, assist with recruiting and contract administration, maintain program files, and coordinate retreats and convenings. Use AI tools to support research and drafting while exercising judgment and discretion.

Provide cross-foundation operational and grantmaking support, managing grants across the lifecycle, coordinating workflows, ensuring compliance, preparing agreements, tracking budgets and timelines, and supporting Grants Management projects. Serve multiple program teams during transitions and high-volume periods while identifying process improvements to strengthen grantmaking operations.
