Lead systems engineering work to define and measure critical driving behaviors, develop metrics, provide verification requirements, anticipate risks, and drive cross-functional projects to improve autonomous vehicle system performance and reliability.

Develop evaluation frameworks, statistical methods, metrics, and anomaly investigations for autonomous vehicle software, ML models, simulation, and on-road driving data. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to interpret trends, solve ambiguous problems, communicate findings, and support deployment readiness decisions for the Waymo Driver and simulation software.

Design autonomous vehicle test metrics, plans, and simulated scenarios for off-nominal situations; build dashboards analyzing fleet-wide fault rates; support verification and validation of fault-protection and remote-assistance behaviors; and develop Python and SQL pipelines to maintain and validate safety-critical test coverage.

Design and maintain high-performance C++ systems software, runtime components, diagnostics, and developer tooling for custom silicon and autonomous vehicle compute platforms. Build HIL test harnesses, regression frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines; lead hardware qualification and release verification across revisions. Debug software-hardware, concurrency, and performance issues across physical and emulated environments while collaborating with hardware, compiler, validation, and vehicle platform teams.

The Market Operations Lead will oversee the operational performance of the Ride-hail services, ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability while leading cross-functional teams in the Bay Area.

Design and maintain high-throughput distributed backend services and scalable data pipelines for Waymo’s commercialization data lake. Process petabytes of telemetry and RPC logs into reliable canonical tables, build self-service pipeline services, and implement privacy, compliance, security, and access controls. Establish testing, staging, canary releases, rollbacks, monitoring, and operational standards while collaborating with data engineers and product data scientists on platform consistency and dependency tracing.

Develop and verify depot and off-hail automation features for autonomous vehicle fleets. Develop high-resolution vision and spatial-temporal transformer architectures, use foundation models for data curation and synthetic edge cases, and optimize models for onboard accelerator inference.

Leads global product marketing strategy for Waymo’s autonomous ride-hailing products, including positioning, launches, market expansions, adoption, and growth. Partners with Product, Engineering, and Operations leadership to influence roadmaps and business priorities. Synthesizes consumer, brand, competitive, product, and business insights to guide market decisions. Builds and develops a high-performing global Product Marketing team and supports U.S. and international market health.

Develop, evaluate, and release learned driving policies for autonomous vehicles, particularly complex navigation and yielding scenarios. Bridge multimodal perception and planning outputs into safe behavioral actions, evaluate models in closed-loop simulation against safety metrics, and transition production-ready models into autonomous navigation systems. The role also advances data-driven policies, foundation-model experimentation, scenario generation, and end-to-end driving architectures.

Define Waymo’s global data lake architecture roadmap and lead the transition to a scalable, production-grade analytical ecosystem. Govern cross-domain pipelines, enforce lakehouse and DAG standards, chair data design reviews, and develop self-service managed pipeline frameworks. Integrate privacy, access control, and compliance into the platform while influencing engineering, data science, and executive stakeholders.
