The Pharmacist In Charge oversees outpatient retail and specialty pharmacy operations, including staff supervision, medication verification and dispensing, purchasing, inventory control, billing, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, patient education, medication therapy management, reporting, and pharmaceutical information support. The role also manages pharmacy staff, collaborates with healthcare providers and leadership, and ensures adherence to professional, ethical, state, and federal standards.

Manages daily pharmacy operations at a community healthcare center retail pharmacy. Leads client-facing Epic data acquisition engagements, designing extraction methods, interface specifications, and mappings to a canonical data model. Works with Epic, IT, operations, analytics, and 340B stakeholders to deliver validated clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, referral, and provider data. Oversees Clarity, Caboodle, reporting, HL7, FHIR, and SFTP integrations; ensures HIPAA and 340B compliance; resolves complex integration issues; establishes standards and playbooks; and mentors analysts. The role is remote within the continental US and includes travel to client health system sites.

Leads complex client and third-party administrator integrations for pharmacy benefit management operations. Supports batch file processing, EDI workflows, automated job monitoring, data reconciliation, issue resolution, and data quality management. Serves as a subject matter expert on PBM eligibility, claims, accumulator processing, and client-specific configurations. Collaborates with clients and internal teams, documents requirements, resolves exceptions, and maintains service, quality, and productivity standards.

Leads complex 340B split-billing software deployments, configuring eligibility rules, claims feeds, contract pharmacy arrangements, and compliance processes. Analyzes pharmacy and healthcare data, resolves discrepancies, supports audits, monitors program performance, documents workflows, and recommends process improvements. Serves as a senior client-facing escalation resource, mentors junior analysts, communicates regulatory updates, and collaborates with pharmacy, IT, compliance, revenue cycle, and account management teams.

Facilitate URAC and ACHC specialty pharmacy accreditation activities, ensuring pharmacies meet compliance, quality, and performance standards. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, support staff training, maintain accreditation records and reports, monitor SOPs, resolve regulatory and audit requests, and assist with continuous quality improvement, performance improvement, and board of pharmacy inspection requirements.

Supports patient access to specialty medications by managing referrals, refill requests, benefits investigations, insurance authorizations, financial assistance, patient education, dispensing workflows, scheduling, shipments, inventory, and compliance documentation. Builds relationships with patients, clinicians, and pharmacy staff in a hospital setting and travels across Carson Tahoe Health sites, including Reno.

Dispenses prescriptions, interprets drug orders, counsels patients, monitors drug therapy, maintains medication and controlled-drug records, and coordinates with physicians. The pharmacist may supervise technicians, manage pharmacy operations in the manager’s absence, oversee inventory and compliance, participate in staff education and performance improvement, and support hiring, training, evaluations, and team development.

Extracts, builds, validates, and reconciles clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, referral, and provider data from Epic for the VytlAIQ platform. Configures Epic reports, HL7/FHIR interfaces, and encrypted file feeds; documents mappings and specifications; gathers requirements; coordinates with client technical teams; resolves data discrepancies; and supports HIPAA, 340B, testing, and end-user needs. The role is remote within the Continental US but includes travel to client health system sites.
