The EHS Manager serves as the technical expert for environmental, health, and safety programs at the Elkin manufacturing site. Responsibilities include leading assessments, investigations, audits, data analysis, compliance activities, procedure development, employee training, project management, and EHS metrics reporting. The role ensures compliance with company, industry, customer, ISO 14001, legal, and regulatory requirements while driving positive workplace behaviors, culture, and results.

Lead plant quality initiatives by analyzing in-process and outgoing production data, supporting documentation and audits (IATF16949, customer/regulatory), investigating field complaints/returns, managing certification testing, collaborating with production to solve quality issues, and driving continuous improvement.

Lead cross-functional OEM program launches from prototype to production, ensuring timelines, cost, and quality meet Vitro and customer requirements. Act as customer-facing APQP liaison, manage risks, run gate reviews, ensure APQP/TS16949 compliance, and transfer program accountability to manufacturing.

Supervise shift production operations to meet safety, quality, productivity, cost, and customer requirements. Enforce safety standards and company policies, coordinate manpower scheduling, provide coaching, training, performance evaluations, and drive continuous improvement and outgoing quality goals.

Operate, maintain, and improve R&D and plant laboratory equipment; perform SOP tests and sample prep; collect and document data; troubleshoot hardware and control software; manage spare parts and vendor relationships; support process/product improvement projects and lab-to-manufacturing implementation.

Designs, builds, and maintains laboratory and plant-level test equipment and instrumentation. Leads product and process improvement projects, develops prototypes and measurement protocols, collaborates with production/controls/quality, interfaces with vendors, and documents results. Provides technical guidance, implements control systems, and ensures measurement processes are statistically robust and production-ready.

Supervise technical services for float glass tanks to maximize quality, production speed, yields, and equipment reliability. Provide day-to-day technical leadership, inspect processes, coordinate batch and tank operations, analyze production and quality reports, manage technical projects, and support training and safety programs.

Direct and coordinate batch plant, tank, bath, and lehr operations to meet safety, quality, production, and cost goals. Monitor production and quality reports, implement corrective actions, recommend process and equipment improvements, inspect tank refractory daily, coordinate materials ordering, and support training and safety programs.

Design, build, maintain, and improve laboratory and plant-level test and measurement equipment. Develop instrumentation, prototypes, and data interfaces; lead process and product improvement projects; collaborate with controls, production, and quality teams; draft technical documentation and provide training.

Lead development of process modeling, control, and optimization technologies from concept to commercialization. Perform technology scouting, project planning, CFD and heat-transfer modeling, optimization, and data analysis. Coordinate cross-functional teams, define safety requirements, and present findings. Support process improvements and travel up to 30% for project execution.

Supervise and coordinate all plant accounting functions including cost estimating, month/year-end close, inventory controls, production reporting, accounts payable resolution, and maintenance of production cost systems (SAP). Train staff, ensure internal controls, provide timely financial reports to Plant Controller, and liaise with other plant counterparts.

Manage, maintain, and improve lamination assembly production lines. Support manufacturing planning and layout, lead root cause analysis, write standard work, troubleshoot equipment, and prepare capital project justifications to reduce costs and improve safety.

Perform production tasks on 12-hour rotating shifts in a glass manufacturing facility: operate equipment, perform repetitive manual work, lift up to 50 lbs, follow safety procedures, and support overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must pass background/drug screens and physical testing and demonstrate basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills.

Create production plans from forecasts and inventory targets; forecast and order materials for JIT delivery; release and route work orders; schedule and evaluate domestic and international shipments; support supply chain and inventory tasks; apply lean principles for continuous improvement.

Lead hands-on research translating novel electrochemical and electro‑optical concepts into manufacturable glass products. Design and execute experiments, analyze data, document results, mentor junior staff, and support scale-up and IP evaluation to advance product development.

Lead Technical Services and Sustainability functions to support customers, architects, and fabricators. Provide field support, manage product warranties and claims, influence legislation/standards, certify program participants, demonstrate glass performance for energy and aesthetics, and oversee sustainability program management and stakeholder communications to grow Vitro product use.

Perform general production duties in a glass manufacturing plant including lifting, packing, loading, cleaning, operating equipment, and following PPE and safety procedures. Work rotating 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 operation; must be able to operate a fork truck and lift up to 50 pounds.

Supervise plant production by leading pre-shift meetings, assigning trained staff, enforcing safety/quality/production standards, auditing 5S, managing payroll/time-off and work orders, coaching and developing team members, and recommending process improvements.

Design and implement production process modifications and engineering projects to improve safety, quality, and efficiency. Develop project plans, cost controls, and vendor specifications. Support equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance procedures. Use continuous improvement tools (QIP, SPC, Six Sigma) and CAD where applicable. Troubleshoot mechanical problems, manage projects to timelines, and communicate with operators, management, and vendors. Emphasize safety, health, and environmental controls on the plant floor and in the office.
