Leads the design, development, and implementation of scalable Java backend services using Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and AWS. Owns API, security, testing, architecture, technical documentation, and production incident response. Drives engineering excellence through mentoring, Agile delivery, CI/CD, containerized deployments, continuous improvement, and adoption of AI-assisted development tools.

Create polished visual communications for the National Science Foundation, including reports, PowerPoint presentations, web and digital graphics, posters, one-pagers, fact sheets, brochures, layouts, and infographics. Apply strong design principles, branding, creative problem-solving, and analytical and artistic approaches across traditional and digital formats. Collaborate remotely with project teams, communicate effectively, manage digital assets, and maintain highly organized, detail-oriented work. Occasional in-person attendance may be required in Alexandria, Virginia.

Plan, coordinate, and execute meetings, conferences, outreach events, and trade-show exhibits. Manage end-to-end logistics, vendor relationships, venue contracts, shipping/receiving, on-site setup and breakdown, speaker coordination, attendee engagement, and post-event reporting. Oversee exhibit design, inventory, and experiential activations while collaborating with stakeholders and providing status updates.

Collects and analyzes performance data across digital platforms, events, and media to evaluate outreach effectiveness. Builds dashboards and visualizations, produces reports for leadership, measures stakeholder attitudes and engagement, and develops data-driven communications strategies and best practices in collaboration with editorial and digital staff.

Develop and maintain Applicant, Reviewer, Metadata Manager, and Admin Drupal portals (frontend and backend). Implement accessible, role-based UIs consistent with NSF/USWDS standards; build Drupal 10 custom modules, forms, APIs, workflows, and integrations; support metadata ingestion, data modeling, monitoring, and production stability. Collaborate with UX, product, database engineers, and mentor junior engineers.

Provide speechwriting and leadership communications for NSF leadership: draft speeches, remarks, talking points, testimony, presentations, and web content; translate complex science into plain language; ensure Plain Writing Act and Section 508 compliance; conduct research and factchecking; manage projects, staff, and editorial standards; mentor junior staff.
