Lead stress analysis and structural substantiation for Vertical Aerospace’s next-generation eVTOL aircraft. Analyze composite and metallic airframe structures using hand calculations and FEA, define certification-aligned analysis strategies, approve technical reports and drawings, and coordinate verification evidence. Lead small technical teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with design, loads, certification, testing, and manufacturing teams throughout development and certification.

Support end-to-end aerospace airframe program delivery across aerostructures, cabin interiors, EWIS, system installation, and landing gear workstreams. Build integrated schedules, coordinate suppliers, track deliverables, manage risks, monitor cost, schedule and quality, maintain dashboards, and support change control. The role requires close collaboration with engineering teams and readiness to work primarily in Bristol with occasional international travel.

Design and develop landing gear or comparable mechanical systems for an eVTOL aircraft. Manage engineering suppliers, resolve technical issues, support design reviews, tolerance analysis, trade studies, certification evidence, drawings, technical reports, and demonstrator aircraft maintenance. Apply mechanical engineering principles to meet weight, safety, maintainability, and manufacturability requirements while collaborating across engineering teams and external partners.

Own and modernize hybrid Azure and on-premises infrastructure across Hyper-V, Linux, and Active Directory. Build automation with Terraform, Azure DevOps, and scripting; improve reliability, security, observability, backups, disaster recovery, and deployment processes. Collaborate with engineering teams on developer tooling, scalable platforms, and future cloud strategy across Azure and AWS.

Develop and own flight control laws for an eVTOL aircraft from requirements capture through design, verification, flight testing, and certification. Use MATLAB, Simulink, and model-based engineering to deliver certified control systems. Coordinate across flight dynamics, systems, software, simulation, testing, certification, and flight-test teams while applying aircraft development and certification expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges.

Own airframe designs from incomplete or inherited definition through design for manufacture, engineering release, build, installation, and flight testing. Approve drawings and technical reports, coordinate engineers and contractors, integrate structures with aircraft systems, develop verification and certification evidence, resolve manufacturing and assembly issues, manage safety risks, and mentor junior engineers.

Provides shared administrative and coordination support to senior leaders, executive support teams, and the Bristol office. Responsibilities include coordinating meetings, diaries, travel, accommodation, expenses, rooms, documents, VIP visits, company meetings, and internal events. The role requires proactive prioritization, clear communication, attention to detail, and practical support across multiple teams.
