Leads health, safety and environmental improvement initiatives from identification through implementation and sustained embedding. Facilitates workshops, engages operational leaders and technical specialists, develops practical HSE systems and resources, and translates strategy, risk insights and regulatory requirements into effective ways of working. The role strengthens safety capability and learning culture across a complex, high-risk electricity distribution business.

Plan electricity network capacity, demand, development, and low-voltage connections. Analyze network and customer data, identify constraints, model practical solutions, and contribute planning expertise to innovation projects. Support trials involving distributed energy resources, batteries, smart-meter analytics, Dynamic Operating Envelopes, and future-grid technologies. Collaborate across technical, customer, commercial, digital, data, and operational teams to evaluate options and translate findings into future network planning practices.

Lead delivery of Vector’s Suburb of the Future energy innovation programme. Manage interconnected technology, customer, network, regulatory and partner workstreams while controlling scope, budgets, timing, risks, dependencies and funding commitments. Coordinate technical teams and external partners, oversee governance and reporting, support community and field deployment, and translate project evidence and customer feedback into recommendations for scaling, operationalising, refining or ending initiatives.

Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, automate testing and deployments, troubleshoot build issues, strengthen release processes, support monitoring/security, and mentor junior engineers within an Agile environment.

Build and improve cloud-native software (primarily Java/Spring) for an AWS serverless platform. Contribute to frontend, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and platform maintainability. Work in agile teams, apply TDD/BDD practices, collaborate with AWS partners, and drive continuous improvement in code quality, documentation, and delivery pipelines.

Lead and develop an engineering team to deliver and operate Diverge, a cloud-native AWS serverless SaaS platform. Balance people leadership with hands-on technical delivery, partnering with Product, Delivery and Customer teams to ensure reliable production performance, DevOps-led sustaining practices, and continuous improvement across engineering standards and practices.

As a Senior Software Developer, you'll build software using Java, React, and AWS services, while promoting innovation in the energy sector.
