Acts as senior commercial authority shaping programme-wide commercial models and ensuring value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Lead development and governance of an integrated master schedule (L0-L4) for a complex engineering programme. Provide strategic schedule insight, scenario modelling, EVM and Monte Carlo risk analysis, WBS and resource-loading oversight, mentor planners, drive recovery planning, and liaise with senior stakeholders to ensure delivery on time, budget, and safely.

Lead end-to-end commercial and procurement activities for complex ICT and research projects, ensuring compliance with public procurement law. Develop procurement strategies, manage tendering, contract negotiation and supplier performance, advise senior stakeholders, mentor commercial team members, and improve procurement processes to deliver value for money and project objectives.

Provide financial planning, analysis, reporting and costing for projects. Support month-end accounts, budgeting and forecasting, capital expenditure reporting, customer reports, audits, and maintain strong financial controls and reconciliations.

Lead development and delivery of UKAEA's equality, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing strategies. Lead Product Quality Strategy and governance for STEP fusion programme. Ensure EMS, quality frameworks, certification (UKCA) and assurance deliver safe, certifiable, fit‑for‑purpose products. Drive design risk analysis (FMEA/FTA), problem solving (RCA/8D/DMAIC), supply‑chain quality, regulator engagement, and build a high‑performing Product Quality function.

Lead and direct engineering for the Materials Research Facility, delivering complex multidisciplinary systems (mechanical, electrical, electronic) for active materials research. Provide systems-engineering oversight, ensure CE/UKCA and machine certification compliance, manage resources, budgets and risks, support major UKAEA programmes, engage stakeholders and senior leadership, and grow a high-performing team while upholding technical rigour and safety in radiological/robotic environments.

Design, analyse, test and commission HV/LV electrical distribution systems (11kV–400kV) for projects and operations. Deliver technical work packages, perform power flow, protection and fault studies using ETAP, design earthing systems, commission switchgear and protection relays, support operational improvements, produce technical documentation, and participate in an on-call rota and regular site-based activities.

Partner with senior leaders to shape people strategy, lead organisational design, workforce planning, change and talent initiatives, advise on complex employee relations, and embed people data to improve organisational effectiveness.

Provide commercial and contractual support for IPTs on the STEP programme: draft and review complex contracts, manage post-contract processes (cost forecasting, change control, payments), mitigate commercial risk, produce assurance reports, support audits, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance while ensuring compliance with public-sector governance.
