Lead the design and delivery of tokamak primary cooling, power cycle and heat rejection systems for the STEP prototype powerplant. Provide process modelling, technical leadership of a multidisciplinary team, manage technology development programmes and supplier engagement, ensure safety, manufacturability and regulatory compliance, and apply systems engineering to requirements, interfaces and risk.

Model turbulent transport in the tokamak scrape-off layer using 3D turbulence codes (Hermes-3), validate simulations against MAST-U and other machines, develop SOL predictive and interpretative models, support experimental teams, publish and present results, build external collaborations, and supervise/mentor students.

Operate, maintain, test, and upgrade tritium processing and process plant systems. Prepare Work Control Packs, risk assessments and method statements. Support commissioning, documentation (P&IDs, manuals), improvements, training, and safe delivery of work packages while promoting SHE culture and collaborating with staff and subcontractors.
