Lead the design, delivery, and improvement of secure, resilient platforms and infrastructure across cloud, DevSecOps, MLOps, software delivery, and data workflows. Collaborate with scientists and engineers, drive automation and operational excellence, mentor colleagues, manage technical projects, and help establish modern software engineering practices. The role requires substantial production systems experience, programming proficiency, lifecycle management, and regular onsite presence.

Develop and maintain high-performance simulation tools for tokamak exhaust plasma modeling, initially using the Hermes-3 edge code. Apply numerical methods, software engineering, testing, versioning, and documentation practices; deploy models on supercomputers; validate tools against experiments; collaborate with plasma specialists and external partners; communicate findings; and mentor junior colleagues or doctoral students.

Leads complex public-sector procurement activities, especially IT procurements, from strategy and tendering through contract award and management. Provides commercial advice to senior stakeholders, negotiates agreements, monitors supplier performance, ensures compliance with UK procurement legislation, improves processes, and mentors commercial team members. The role requires regular onsite presence and supports the UK fusion energy programme.
