Build and deploy AI tools, agentic systems, internal services, workflows, interfaces, and integrations across the company. Drive AI tooling adoption, improve software development workflows, create reusable connectors and guardrails, evaluate build-versus-buy options, and partner with infrastructure, security, operations, and business teams. Measure productivity, adoption, and user trust while ensuring safe, maintainable production systems.

Own the technical path from customer sale through robot deployment. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, recreating customer environments, designing and assembling mechatronic solutions, testing robots in the lab, conducting timing studies, documenting deployment solutions, and handing production-ready systems to field teams.

Leads the hardware organization responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and scaling warehouse robots. Owns product lifecycle execution from requirements through volume production, improves reliability and manufacturing yield, establishes engineering standards and processes, directs build-versus-buy and supplier decisions, and builds a high-performing mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering team. Partners with software, autonomy, product, procurement, and customer operations to deliver reliable robots at scale.

Review robot task videos and annotations for accuracy, provide feedback to annotation teams, refine quality guidelines, coach teleoperation pilots, monitor data and performance metrics, and improve operational processes. The role partners with Autonomy and Operations teams to support reliable, high-quality datasets for training and evaluating robotic systems.

Own Ultra’s data infrastructure and information security architecture end to end. Audit existing authentication and authorization systems, identify gaps, and execute a six-month improvement roadmap. Drive SOC 2 compliance, build scalable data-source onboarding tools, and design secure authorization foundations for company-wide AI tooling. The role also supports engineers with safe data access and partners with leadership on architecture for enterprise expansion.

Lead development and scalability of Ultra's electronics stack: ensure environmental robustness, debug intermittent communications, design and select components, work with contract manufacturers for volume production, reduce BOM costs, run rapid prototype-validate cycles, and make build-vs-buy decisions to support thousands of deployed robots.

Lead sourcing, supplier relationships, purchasing, inventory planning, inbound logistics, and supplier quality for scaling robot production. Build tooling and automation, manage POs and RFQs, negotiate terms, and travel internationally to qualify and audit suppliers.

Lead and run robotics data programs: translate ML priorities into collection/annotation/validation plans, own roadmaps and delivery, improve processes, and build tools to ensure high-quality datasets for model training and evaluation.

Conduct research to improve robot foundation models for fast, reliable task learning and execution. Post-train and benchmark models, perform failure analysis, and integrate models into production robotics stacks for deployment at customer sites.

Deploy and commission robotic systems at customer sites: install, upgrade, troubleshoot, train users, and provide remote support. Feed field learnings to product and ML teams, assist with robot assembly and testing at HQ, and help scale deployments across the US.

Lead and build Ultra's marketing function end-to-end: define positioning and category narrative, own product marketing and launches, create content and brand assets, establish demand-generation foundations, enable sales, and hire and grow the marketing team while partnering with product and sales.

Lead and build the People function for a rapidly scaling robotics startup. Own recruiting strategy and execution, HR operations (HRIS, payroll, benefits, immigration, compliance), compensation and career frameworks, performance cycles, and culture. Partner with CEO and leadership to design org structure and support a diverse workforce across engineering, field operations, and corporate roles.

Lead end-to-end customer experience and product roadmap for Ultra's robotics software platform. Embed on warehouse floors, design and prototype interfaces, ship with engineering, bridge hardware/software seams, support go-to-market, and define product practices as the company scales deployments.

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you'll design and deploy tooling and components for robots, optimizing performance and ensuring quality while collaborating closely with the engineering team.
