Operates and maintains high-pressure wood-fired boilers and kilns, including loading kiln charges, monitoring controls and moisture content, clearing ash, performing minor repairs, and supporting environmental compliance. The trainee works with plant departments, analyzes operational data, identifies process improvements, and may operate loaders, forklifts, and other rolling stock. Work includes variable schedules, graveyard shifts, outdoor conditions, noise, airborne sawdust, and moving mechanical equipment.

Maintains, repairs, fits, benches, and changes band and round saws in a saw filing department. Responsibilities include replacing teeth, repairing cracks, preventive maintenance, machine center alignment assistance, knife grinding, and providing guidance on complex filing tasks. The role requires strong knowledge of saws, machinery, and production flow, along with the ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

Inspects all four sides of lumber to determine grade, length, and species. Performs daily grade checks, identifies defects, applies grade rules, and makes grade and trim decisions to maximize product value and recovery. Works with quality control and planer personnel, follows production flow, completes tasks accurately, and prioritizes safety, PPE, LOTO procedures, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
