Supports mechanical design and equipment development for advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing. Responsibilities include designing tooling, fixtures, material handling systems, and production equipment; coordinating fabrication and vendors; supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing integration; and maintaining engineering documentation. The role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, EH&S, radiological controls, and suppliers in a regulated, on-site environment.

Supports manufacturing and engineering through technical sourcing, supplier qualification, BOM and material planning, logistics coordination, and supply risk mitigation. Reviews engineering documentation, evaluates vendors and quotations, manages critical materials and delivery commitments, resolves shortages and quality issues, and improves cost, lead time, traceability, and supplier performance. Collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, finance, project teams, and external suppliers in a regulated nuclear manufacturing environment.

Develops and manages industrial hygiene programs to identify, assess, and control workplace hazards. Conducts air sampling, noise monitoring, exposure assessments, risk assessments, and incident investigations; ensures OSHA, EPA, DOE, and industry-standard compliance; maintains records; delivers safety training; recommends engineering, administrative, and PPE controls; and collaborates with operations, engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams to improve workplace health and safety.

Leads industrial hygiene programs across manufacturing, laboratory, and controlled environments. Conducts complex exposure assessments and monitoring for chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and thermal hazards; interprets results against regulatory limits; evaluates engineering controls; supports process changes, incident investigations, audits, and compliance activities; develops technical documentation and training; advises leadership and cross-functional teams; mentors personnel; and drives continuous improvement of occupational health protections.

Develops supplier strategies and sourcing plans for direct materials, components, equipment, and critical services supporting nuclear manufacturing. Manages supply continuity, risk mitigation, cost analysis, supplier qualification, BOM and material-planning data, and long-lead procurement. Partners with engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, facilities, and operations to improve production readiness, compliance, cost control, and operational reliability.

Supports the quality management system in a regulated nuclear manufacturing environment. Develops quality controls, leads root cause investigations and CAPA, supports inspections and verification, evaluates nonconformances, and improves manufacturing processes. Assists with supplier quality, material certification review, documentation, audits, traceability, and compliance with NQA-1, DOE, and NRC requirements. The role works cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams and may support production on the manufacturing floor and in controlled areas.

Develop, edit, format, organize, and maintain technical, business, and controlled documentation. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, leadership, legal, and business teams to convert technical input into clear materials. Support document control workflows, version control, metadata, routing, release, records management, SharePoint organization, audits, and process improvements while ensuring documents are accurate, retrievable, professional, and audit-ready.

Develop and maintain production schedules across multiple facilities by translating demand, engineering inputs, capacity, materials, and constraints into executable plans. Analyze capacity and throughput, identify bottlenecks, build planning frameworks and tools, maintain planning data in ERP/MRP/scheduling systems, and coordinate cross-functionally with production, engineering, supply chain, quality, and project teams to improve schedule discipline and production readiness.

The Quality Engineer ensures compliance with quality standards and processes in manufacturing, driving continuous improvement and supporting inspections and documentation.

Lead on-site Oak Ridge nuclear fuel fabrication facility operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient production. Accountable for production performance, safety, quality, regulatory compliance, workforce development, continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Quality, Nuclear Safety, EH&S, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.

Serve as on-site project lead for equipment delivery, installation, commissioning readiness, and partner coordination at a manufacturing site. Own schedule, action tracking, issue escalation, documentation, and readiness for operational handoff while coordinating engineering, operations, vendors, and partner teams to ensure safe, on-schedule commissioning and startup.
